Types of cosmetics
Cosmetic packaging is available for all types of cosmetics, and they come in all shapes and sizes. Anyone interested in this type of packaging should choose based on the material they are putting into the container. Listed below are the most common types of packaging.

Jars and utensils are commonly used for face creams, lotions, foundations, lip balms, powders and other cosmetics. These range in size from 20 mm to 60 mm and can hold anywhere from 25 ml (or less) to 250 ml. Shapes include: oval, square, round and some of them are also square with round utensils in the middle. Materials used include: glass, acrylic, acrylic glass, polyethylene terephthalate and many others. They are used because they are lightweight, inexpensive and easy to fill with liquid or dry cosmetics.

Larger sticks are commonly used for lip stick, lip balm, concealers and other creamy forms of cosmetics. Some containers bend while others push manually. The height of these containers is in size and is usually at the top at 100 meters. The shapes include round, oval, cylinder and many others. The material used is usually plastic, aluminum or metal and capacities range from 5 ml to 15 ml.

Compact is commonly used for foundations, eye shadows, blushes, bronzers and many other types of makeup. Circular compact cases are the most common and are commonly used for foundations, blushes, and bronzers. There are also rectangular cases that are commonly used for eyeshadow palettes. Other shapes include: oval, round and square. There are also some compacts that double stack and others that have removable wells. Plastic is the most commonly used material because it is light and inexpensive. Sizes vary from 50 mm and 200 mm, and this usually depends on the size of the selected container. Most are equipped with mirrors on the lid to help with compact makeup application.

Vials are commonly used for lip gloss and mascara as they can be put into a tube for makeup. These materials include: plastic, acrylic, aluminum, nylon and many others. The most common shapes are cylindrical, but convex, round and square shapes are also available. They have thick walls with plastic caps that hold the rods that apply makeup. Capacity for these ranges from 5ml to 15ml and will depend on the height and size of the container.
Tubes are commonly used for eye creams, lotions, face creams and foundations or gels. They are usually made of low density polyethylene or high density polyethylene, and have various top sizes that can be used. Triangular toppers are common because they allow the user to pull out as much of the product as they need for accuracy. Push tops are also common for cosmetics that require a controlled volume produced with each pump. Tube diameters range from 16 mm to 50 mm and capacities range from 5 ml to 240 ml. There are also various lengths that can be chosen based on diameter and capacity options.

There are many factors in the decision-making process for designing and making cosmetic containers. Some of these factors are general decisions such as materials and graphics while others are specific to the type of product sold. Different types of cosmetics call for specific types of packaging and materials. There are some materials that are more cost effective for the manufacturer than others.
Acrylic containers are the most common type of cosmetic packaging because it is durable, economical and very easy to customize. A large quantity of acrylic containers can be mass-produced within days. This type of container can be made into cosmetic, in the form of bottles, jars, tubes, or pallets that need to be packed. Although acrylic containers are usually clear, they can be tinted or frosted. These are similar to the appearance of glass, although they are not prone to breaking and they are very light.

PP plastic containers are very inexpensive and they are of excellent quality. This type of material is commonly used for products such as lotions, eye shadow palettes, soap dishes and other types of cosmetics. It is much softer than acrylic plastic, and is not durable. However, PP plastic containers are much more cost effective and can be mass-produced in less time. Depending on the attachment used.
